Is Peanut Butter Bad For Dogs?

Is Peanut Butter Bad for Dogs?

Short answer is YES, peanut butter is bad for dogs.  But not all peanut butters are bad.

The long answer is this:

If you buy the wrong peanut butter for your dog, you could cause severe illnesses and even death and there are 2 main reasons for my answer

#1) Some peanut butter companies are switching over to sugar-free peanut butter. But, they can’t just give Americans bitter peanut butter, no one would buy it. So they put Xylitol, a sweeter found in sugarless gum, sugarless energy drinks, etc. Where you see, sugar-free but, it still tastes sweet as heck then it was made with an artificial sweetener. Too much Xylitol can kill your dog.

#2) Peanut butter for humans that isn’t considered sugar-free contains too much sugar for a dog to consume daily. This can cause several health problems including diabetes and obesity.

Because of those two main reasons, we only give our dog peanut butter made for dogs. That means it contains NO SUGAR and NO XYLITOL.

We offer a Sugar-free and Xylitol-free peanut butter on our site and it is the same  peanut butter we give our dogs is made with 3 ingredients.

  1. Peanuts
  2. Chia seeds
  3. Coconut Oil

Xylitol can be found in anything that says SUGAR FREE. So keep your paws off of anything with xylitol in it.
